A complete 2026 product listing includes at minimum:

  • Title — 60-70 characters, brand + type + key attribute
  • Short description — 150-250 characters, read first
  • Long description — 400 to 1000 words, structured (H2/H3, lists)
  • Price + compare-at price when on sale
  • 3 to 8 images at 1000×1000 minimum, neutral background for Google Shopping
  • Unique internal SKU

The 3 mistakes that kill product listings

Generic reused description

Pasting the supplier spec sheet verbatim is the #1 cause of Google penalties. Every brand must produce unique content, even short.

Unoptimized images

Raw uncompressed photos, no WebP, no neutral background: Core Web Vitals suffer and Google Shopping rejects your feed.

Missing attributes

Writing a product listing in 2026: the method

1. Start from attributes, not prose

A well-structured listing starts with attributes: dimensions, material, weight, use case. That's what feeds the AI and structures SEO. Without clean attributes, AI copy produces fluff.

2. Structure the long description

Universal template: a hook (2-3 lines), Why choose this (3 benefit bullets), Technical specs (table), Use/care instructions, Shipping & returns. Google loves this format and so do your visitors.

3. Generate with AI, validate with humans
