PrestaShop multistore: run several shops without breaking things

PrestaShop multistore is a powerful native feature — and the source of much confusion around shared catalogs, differentiated pricing and per-shop SEO.

PrestaShop lets you manage multiple shops from a single installation. Shops by country, brand or customer segment: multistore is a real lever — if you understand its catalog, price and stock sharing rules.

The 3 catalog sharing modes in multistore

Fully shared catalog

One product, the same data across all shops. Simplifies management but does not allow customizing title, description or price per shop.

Shared product, differentiated prices

One product, but different prices and availability per shop. Typical case: FR shop at €99 excl. tax, EU shop at €89 excl. tax. Configured via Shop Parameters.

Independent catalogs

Each shop has its own products. Maximum flexibility, but multiplied data entry work. Seegea syncs common edits in one click.

Enabling PrestaShop multistore

Parameters → General → check “Enable multistore” → Save. A new “Multistore” menu appears in Administration. You can create shop groups and individual shops.

Warning: in multistore mode, back-office changes apply to the shop selected in the top-of-page selector. A context error can modify all shops or just one without you realizing it.

Before enabling multistore on an existing installation: full backup. Activation modifies the structure of certain DB tables and cannot be cleanly reversed.

Multistore SEO: the basic rules

Each PrestaShop shop must have its own meta titles and descriptions. Identical content on two different domains is a duplicate content signal. If your shops share the same catalog, customize at least the metas — Seegea does this in bulk via AI templates.
