What not to do
- Leave the field empty (95% of stores)
- Repeat the exact product title on all images
- Keyword stuffing: "cheap nike shoes buy nike sneakers discount"
- File name as alt text: "IMG_20240315_123456.jpg"
Also name your image files descriptively before upload: "nike-air-max-90-white-front.jpg" rather than "IMG_12345.jpg". Google weighs both signals.
