On Shopify there are only two states for a collaborator: they have access to products, or they do not. No middle ground, no per-column restriction, no per-shop limits unless you are on Plus. For a modern e-commerce team — writers, product managers, freelancers, interns, external providers — that model breaks quickly.
Seegea adds a fine-grained permission layer on top of Shopify: Owner / Admin / Editor / Viewer roles, per-shop permissions, full history, one-click rollback. Without upgrading your Shopify plan.
Seegea runs natively on
4 Seegea roles designed for a catalog team
Owner — the founder or CEO
Admin — the e-commerce lead
Editor — the product manager or writer
The 4th role, Viewer, is the most underrated. It gives full read-only access: ideal for a CEO who wants to browse the catalog safely, an external stakeholder auditing your listings, or an intern in observation mode.
What Seegea does that Shopify does not
| Feature | Shopify native | Seegea |
|---|---|---|
| Granular roles | 20 all-or-nothing checkboxes | 4 business roles + per-shop permissions |
| Multi-shop permissions | Shopify Plus only | All plans, all shops |
| Per-user history | Partial (admin logs) | Full, per field, timestamped |
| Product rollback | Impossible | Ctrl+Z → auto re-push |
| Onboarding a freelancer | Needs a Shopify staff seat | Email invite, scoped access |
| Immediate revocation | Via Shopify admin | One click in Seegea, audit log kept |
3 concrete use cases
1. The DTC brand with 2 shops (FR + US)
Team of 6. On Shopify you would duplicate staff accounts for each shop. On Seegea each user has a role per shop: the FR content manager is Editor on FR and Viewer on US. The growth manager is Admin on both. The founder stays Owner.
2. The team working with a photo provider
The provider uploads optimised images without accessing prices, stock or descriptions. You create an Editor account scoped to the relevant shop. Their activity log is separate from the internal team's. End of engagement: immediate revocation.
3. The catalog shared between two sister companies (group)
A parent company owning 3 Shopify brands. The group e-commerce director is Admin on all 3. Each brand lead is Admin on their own shop, Viewer on the others. The controller is Viewer everywhere. Zero friction, zero shared password.

History and rollback: the safety net
Every change in Seegea creates a product version. If an Editor changes 200 descriptions by mistake, the Admin restores the previous state in one click — Seegea automatically re-pushes to Shopify. No other tool on Shopify combines this level of safety net with such fine role granularity.
Every action is traced: who edited, which field, old value, new value, timestamp. You can filter the history by user, product or date. Essential for teams that have already experienced an incident without being able to trace it back.
What you gain day to day
- No more passwords shared between 3 people on the same staff account.
- No more Shopify plan upgrades just to add one more teammate.
- No more stress when a freelancer finishes their engagement without certainty you closed everything.
- No more catalog incidents without a clear culprit.
